BHUTAN,Uptal Academy Girl’s High School

We thank all the girls from Uptal Academy in Bhutan, Bhutan’s first all-girls school for this selection of drawings.This first one has been done by Sonam Choden and the second by Rada Om Tshering.

We want Peace to have a happy life 

Peace is the source of glory and harmony all around the World. It eases all the violence and misery of all 

The third design has been created by Sherub Ihambo and the fourth by Sonam Dechen

United We stand, divided we fall. For me Peace is a place where only happiness exists and where the people get harmony.Peace is where the people are blessed with everything by Sherub

Peace means happiness,if there is no peace there will be no life and not even our mother earth. Let us help the Earth to be in Peace,so that we rest in Peace and enjoy the moment together by Sonam Dechen

Very well done to all these girls and to Dawa for helping coordinate the project for this school . “Its completely their original work without any edition done.” Dawa.

Utpal is another name for lotus flower, which is believed to grow from mud and yet blossoms into a beautiful and majestic flower. It stands for purity. Symbolically, it also stands for the transformation of our girls. What an apt name for the school!

The colors of the Bhutan flag represent spiritual and temporal power within the country.

1. A large human figure : Written by Zaza Tarnue,SOSCV-Monrovia

The large human figure represents someone or nation that is very powerful; influencial and loving needed to bring everyone together for the common good of all humans.

2. The burning  Weapon Written by Morris Kemokai, SOSCV Monrovia

The burning weapon represents the absence of wars; conflicts; hardship and all that have to do with disorganizing a group of people who are devoted to war. It represents the break to the past.

3. Umbrella a, Written by Faith D. Hare, HGIS Monrovia

The Umbrella signifies the coming together of all nations as a unified group of people with one purpose, peace.

The Umbrella signifies the coming together of all nations as a unified group of people with one purpose, peace under one common objective and mission. The umbrella actually is a symbol of unity and oneness as a nation.

Thank you so much to everyone from SOS- Hermann Gmeiner International School-Monrovia Liberia for these colourful pieces which we received today in the post along with a letter with a description of each drawing and this letter from Mr. Emmanuel A. Kyei

This letter explains how Liberia has been emerging from the doldrums of fourteen years of civil war, and sees the promotion of World Peace as a PRIORITY.

“I wish you could see the excitement with which the children  crafted those peace drawing!!:)  You will be more excited to know that these children  actually started the discussion of the meaning and the significance of their drawings with us as we guided them,”

Liberian Flag Meaning:
The 11 stripes symbolize the 11 signatories of the Liberian declaration of independence. The red and white colors symbolize courage and moral excellence. The white star represents the freedom the ex-slaves were given and the blue square represents the African mainland.

MEXICO, Colegio Columbia

This is the winning design chosen from the competition held in  Colegio Columbia, Mexico  to represent students on the art quilt.The competition included kids  from 4th to 9th grade. Thank you to  Enrique Antonio Vazquez Morales,the student who drew this poignant design.  Enrique Antonio  is 13 years old and  is in 8th grade.

We all wish for Peace because the World can’t carry with all this violence anymore.

” Thanks for the link and for the invitation to the contest. It is definitely an idea that resonated with everyone here at school, peace is such a lacking element in our community right now that it was a relief for kids to express why it’s important.” Sandra Chavez

In Mexico the flag is often called the Bandera Nacional.

BERMUDA, The Bermuda High School for Girls

Another fantastic drawing from the Bermuda High School for Girls. Thank you so much to Dominiquei for this one.  Children are so wonderfully creative.

Bermudan Flag Description:
The Bermudan flag consists of a red base with the British Union Jack in the top left hand corner. In the middle of the right side of the Bermudan flag, is the Bermudan coat of arms.
