The Schools’ International Peace Quilt Project working in partnership with the Abraham Moss Community School Manchester, the Guisborough Neighbourhood Management Team, the Guisborough Rotary Club and the Friends of the Schools’ International Peace Quilt was one of the outstanding projects granted the London 2012 Inspire mark, the badge of the London 2012 Inspire Program which recognised exceptional and innovative projects inspired by the 2012 games.
The Inspire Program was an opportunity for everyone to be a part of the London 2012 Games, a broad participation program spanning sport participation, education, sustainability, volunteering and business opportunities and skills. New opportunities were created to inspire young people everywhere.
In the Summer of 2012 the U.K. came alive with the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The four year Cultural Olympiad reached a climax with the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony on 27th July. It started a 60-day festival of sport and culture across the U.K.- the Olympic and Paralympic Games. For the first time these 2 events had been planned together from the very beginning. By thinking about the needs of both Olympic and Paralympic athletes and spectators at each point in the plans, the best possible games experience was created for everyone.
