This is the winning drawing received from Lycee Paul Gaugin School  in Tahiti, French Polynesia. This school held a competition in which staff, teachers, principals and pupils all voted for the drawing to represent their school community on the Schools’ International Peace Quilt. Thank you to everyone involved and also to Caroline Vonsy, English Teacher  for the organisation of this project in your school.

The students message: “We all wish for Peace because we all need it.”

The French Polynesian flag depicts a canoe (piroque), sailing under a golden sun. Its crew of five is representing the five islands groups; the Austral, Gambier, Marquesas, Society and Tuamotu chains. Red and white are traditional Polynesian colours.
